Why UNC Kenan-Flagler for Healthcare?

What makes UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School a core recruitment school for leaders in the healthcare industry? We believe that our students are uniquely prepared - prior to attending, inside the classroom, and through engagement with our local 'ecosystem' - to take on the immense and multi-disciplinary challenges of healthcare design and delivery.

Kenan-Flagler Core Values

Kenan-Flagler admits students whose past experience reflects the core values of the school: Leadership, Excellence, Teamwork, Integrity, and Community. These values are reinforced actively, through curriculum and events, and passively, through interaction with faculty and students. These values correlate closely with success in the collaborative, patient-focused environments that characterize much of the healthcare industry. Recruiters come for our reputation, and come back once they know what we're really like.

Unparalleled Alumni Engagement

Kenan-Flagler alumni are constantly active on campus, and are represented in the top tiers of leadership in the healthcare industry. From global giants in pharmaceuticals, biotech, medical device, hospital networks, insurance, and non-profits, to the cutting edge of digital health and analytics, our alumni stand ready to share their experience and expertise with new generations of Tar Heels, through on-campus presentations, informational interviews, mentorship, networking events, and more.

Dynamic Health Sciences Ecosystem

UNC - Chapel Hill is home to multiple health science schools that are ranked in the top 5 nationally: Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Gillings School of Public Health, UNC School of Nursing, and UNC School of Medicine. Many Healthcare Club leaders and participants are enrolled in joint degree programs with these other exceptional schools, and we are excited to hold the first UNC-wide Business of Healthcare Case Competition in Fall of 2017.

And let's not forget the tremendous research, innovation, and entrepreneurship happening in our backyard.

Anchored by three top universities, home to three major hospital systems and dozens of high tech companies, the Triangle has been a major hub of innovation since the 1950s. Within the past ten years, the Triangle area (Greater Raleigh-Durham) has won national accolades as America's Smartest City, Best City for Biotechnology, and even Top High Tech Region. Quintiles, LabCorp, GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, SAS, and UNC Health Care all have headquarters near UNC campus, and are regularly engaged in activities at Kenan-Flagler.

The Healthcare Club also fosters connections with biomedical startups in the area, to provide our members with a view to the new horizons of care and population health, and an understanding of what it takes to bring revolutionary ideas to market.
